Appearance

he Afghan Hound is known for it's over the top silky coat and the length of its coat. This hound's height ranges from 25-27 inches at the shoulder and can weigh 50-60 pounds. It lives for 10-13 years.

Health and Grooming

The Afghan Hound is notorious for being hard to groom, and famous for its beautiful coat. While the coat does not need to be clipped or trimmed, it does need to be groomed at least three times a week, if not every day. The Afghan Hound is average when it comes to health, nothing special, but nothing terrible either.

Temperament

The Afghan Hound tends to be a bit proud and a little aloof. They're not territorial, nor do they make good watchdogs. They don't do much in the way of barking either.

Friendliness and Exercise Needs

The Afghan Hound is aloof, which means it takes its time getting to know people and isn't as bouncy or as friendly as say, a poodle. It isn't friendly towards things or people other than its family and owners. That being said, despite its cool demeanor, the Afghan Hound does need plenty of good exercise.
