Appearance

The Irish Water Spaniel is a pretty big dog. They are 21-24 inches at the shoulder and weighs around 42-65 pounds. The Irish Water Spaniel tends to live 12-15 years.

Health and Grooming

Grooming the Irish Water Spaniel is pretty easy. You just need to comb its coat once every few weeks. Its health is pretty good too. It does have a moderate chance of becoming overweight, but overall, is a pretty healthy dog.

Temperament

The Irish Water Spaniel was trained to be a hunter dog and isn't always the best choice for a first-time dog owner. He's very smart, bold, curious and eager, which can be a problematic combination for owners who aren't well acquainted with dogs yet. He's also a pretty quiet dog, only barking when he wants to alert his family to something.

Friendliness and Exercise Needs

Because of the fact that they were raised to be hunting companions, the Irish Water Spaniel needs a lot of exercise. Despite the fact they aren't good for beginner owners, they are very friendly dogs. They're friendly to not only their parents
