Appearance

The Yorkshire Terrier, nicknamed the Yorkie, is a designer dog breed. It tends to weigh around 4-7 pounds and measured from the head, it is about 8-9 inches. It's a tiny, tiny dog. Yorkies can live anywhere from 13 to even 19+ years! Because of their tiny size, Yorkies also easily adapt to living in an apartment.

Health and Grooming

In general, the Yorkshire Terrier is a pretty healthy dog. They have a low potential for weight gain. They are, though, one of the hardest dogs to groom simply because of their beautiful coat and how long it can get.

Temperament

Yorkie's are intelligent dogs but are also stubborn, making them a pain to train at times. They're notorious for being hard to housebreak. Yorkies are also well known for being excellent guard dogs. THey may not be scary, but they are excellent at detecting strangers and alerting their owners.

Friendliness and Exercise Needs

Yorkie's don't need too much exercise because of their size, but like any dog, they do need to exert their energy somewhere. Playing with a Yorkie, like playing fetch or throwing a frisbee, is a sufficient amount of exercise. Yorkie's tend to be very friendly and affectionate towards their owners, but less so towards strangers, children, and other dogs. At times, even being aggressive towards other dogs.
