Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu

A Brief Description

Machu Picchu is located in Peru, on top of a mounaint. It is an ancient Incan city that shows the culture of the early inhabitants. It was an elaborate place built for the royals at the time. While natives knew about this city, others did not, so this city has been well-preserved. On the outside of the walls, there are terraces, or flat land almost like steps that were created so that farming on the mountains was possible. Strong walls were built without the use of advanced tools, proving that the Incas' accomplishments were huge. Green covers the mountain side, and the walls tower abovve you. Below, the Urubamba River roars past and fills the air with sound. The only animals you see up here are llamas, used by the Incas sicne they arrived. The highlight of this city is the temple found in the enter. It is a temple dedicated to the sun god. There is an altar and an astronomic clock. If you close your eyes, you can imagine the city in the height of Inca power, bustling with people who achieved so much.
