...Where History And Music Are Connected

Piano History

Whenever someone sees the word history, they might associate it with another word- boring. However, history can sometimes be interesting and useful. When you play a piece, there is more than just "putting your fingers on a keyboard and play." Even if you master your techniques, you will still need this important skill- understanding the meaning of the piece. When you understand the history of piano, you will be able to play a piece with more understanding.

For example, some composers from the Romantic period set their music based on the poems from the poets. Therefore, those composers created descriptive music (which meant that those pieces convey emotions and give deep impressions to listeners). The composers also gave titles to their pieces. Their pieces are freer comparing to pieces from the Baroque period and Classical period. If you understand the message that the composer is trying to convey, then you will be able to execute the notes in a more sophisticated way.

First, start with learning the basic vocabulariesof music. Then, you should start your journey in this order- Baroque period--- Classical period--- Romantic period--- 20thCentury period. There is also a speical biograpghy and interview with Dr. Liang-Yun You! She is a famous pianist who has performed with numerous famous orchestras. She is currently a piano teacher.
