Miwa: I didn't have any expectations. It was back when everyone was talking about the end of the millennium. 2001 seemed to promise a new world. That's when I thought...it would be nice to be his girlfriend by that date. And so that soda can became a symbol of hope.
Miwa: So the end of the season and the expiration date were the same. I knew...it was no coincidence. Whatever happened before July 1st would determine the course of the future!
Miwa: ...The expired soda sat there on my desk. I accomplished nothing in those two years. The can became a symbol of my cowardice.
Miwa: This...is yours. It's expired.
Kenta: Huh?
Miwa: You gave it to me two years ago. Finally...what I really wanted to say Ever since then, I...I've treasured it. Even now, after the expiration date, I can't bring myself to throw it out. Take it. If you don't want it, you can toss it.
Kenta: Funny. It still tastes good.
Miwa: July 2001...
Kenta: Want some?
Miwa: It's about to begin...a future with no expiration date.
