Chapter 3: Second Impression

Second Impression tells the story of Haruka Shiraishi who goes to school during her freshman summer to work for the planning committee for the school festival. As she arrives at school, Naoki Makise accidentally sprays her with a hose and Haruka, intimidated by his popularity, runs away. After school, she finds Naoki tending to the school's sunflowers and also sees a sunflower that hasn't bloomed yet. Together, Naoki and Haruka agree to take care of the sunflower and help it bloom. As the days go on, Haruka begins to like Naoki more and more. However, on the day the one sunflower finally blooms and the last day Haruka will be at school in the summer, she overhears Naoki talking with his friends and his friends accuse him of only coming to summer school early to hook up with "that chick." However, Naoki says he doesn't even know the girl's name and his friends assume that it was "nothing serious." Haruka then walks away, but after school, Naoki finally finds Haruka and asks for her name. The next day, Haruka decides to go back to school and tells Naoki that she really likes him.
